Tour
This out door, socially distanced tour will take approximately one hour. The Education Garden is a vibrant and engaging green oasis among the industrial landscapes that surrounds the Maryland Food Bank Distribution Center. The Garden is a living classroom that promotes gardening and eating locally grown fresh produce. The garden has influences from permaculture, natural farming and regenerative agriculture. The use of these techniques restores the soil and generates forage for pollinators and gives back more than it takes from the land. Techniques for small space gardening and container gardening are demonstrated in the garden. There are herbal spirals to maximize space and a rain garden to retain stormwater. The garden also includes a child-focused section complete with bean teepee, raised salad bar beds and a hand-painted nutrition hopscotch game. The Education Garden is a tangible part of the Maryland Food Bank’s commitment to increase nutrition education for all Marylanders. A mask is required at all times while in and around the Garden. Maximum 15 people. Special SBO price:  Complimentary. Voucher required.
