Farewell to SBO Travel

It is with some sadness that I announce that the Travel part of Senior Box Office will end with the trip to Grounds for Sculpture on October 15, 2025. The decision to end travel was made by the SBO board after I suggested it. This past year, our two traditionally most popular trips, the Army Holiday Festival at DAR’s Constitution Hall and the Philadelphia Flower Show, both lost money due to poor attendance. We have had to cancel 5 trips due to lack of interest. One understandable reason is that the cost of trips has increased substantially.

I would like to thank the many people involved in making so many day and overnight trips happen over the past many years. During my years of involvement, they include Vi Crook, Sylvan Richter, Phyllis Farmer, Bill Moulds, Swadesh Bhalla, Lee Moulds, Doris Webb, Terry Morton and me. Thanks also to our past travel treasurer, Ed Crook, and our current treasurer, Richard Krejci. Thanks also to the SBO board for their support over the years. We wouldn’t have gone very far without the help of all the great folks at Shore Motorcoach.

We are fortunate in Baltimore County to have 17 senior centers, most of which sponsor trips. Check them out at Travel Opportunities for Seniors | Baltimore County Government.

As Rick Steves says, “Keep traveling!”
